I called out her name when I came into the house. \u00a0If only I had called out the correct name. \u00a0 My mistake. \u00a0\u00a0I would pay later. \u00a0\u00a0Of course she didn\u2019t come greet me. \u00a0\u00a0Although she eventually came to investigate, hearing a strange voice in the house intermixed with laughter. \u00a0My friend and I had settled ourselves in two comfy chairs on the cold winter\u2019s evening and when Stella appeared all white and fluffy she stared me down and then hopped in a chair, crossed over a table and finally stood on the arm my chair. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Her inspection continued until she claimed me and allowed me to rub her back.<\/span><\/p>\n

A white haze of fur floated about the room, up into the light of the lamp, over the footstool and onto my notebook keyboard. \u00a0\u00a0She purred. \u00a0\u00a0And as I continued to chat with her owner, \u00a0Stella snarled at me as if to say, \u201cPay attention.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYes mam,\u201d \u00a0I said and she gave me a look that only a cat, sure of herself, \u00a0can give. \u00a0\u00a0Supreme.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s magical, don\u2019t you know,\u201d \u00a0my friend said. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOh really?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYes, \u00a0\u00a0her disguise is her white coat, but underneath she\u2019s a black cat–at heart.\u201d \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And so that\u2019s how Stella and I met. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I asked her permission to tell you her stories. \u00a0So far she says, \u201cNo!\u201d \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
